Building a bridge in our community where we can connect and have access to businesses and activities in St. Petersburg who all have a common goal; a St. Pete whose residents are thriving.
There are so many wonderful outlets that aid in people’s mental wellbeing right here in our beautiful city and this website will hopefully be a looking glass into what’s available. This will be a one stop shop where you will have access to links from available therapists in mental health, yoga studios, meditation, local parks, events, volunteer opportunities and blogs by fellow St. Petersburg residents.
Life can be challenging for us all and when we are going through some difficult times, the question of “what can I do to feel better” is often a daunting one.
Hopefully this will help.
Like anything else in life, when something matters we may feel overwhelmed at the thought of moving forward. It takes courage to ask for and seek out help, and I understand the anxiety that may come with that.
As a therapist myself, I am very familiar with the feelings one has when challenges arise. I have dealt with anxiety as well as depression throughout my life and have been fortunate enough to find a therapist who has been my clarity.
But even therapy alone can not move mountains, there needs to be a balance, it takes a village. I, like many of others, have felt the struggle of 2020 and it all seemed to catch up to me recently.
When speaking to my therapist via phone regarding my feelings of depression, I asked her a question I have been asked many times by my own clients, “Now what do I do?” Truth is, I know as a therapist what will be beneficial for my mental health but how do I access it right now, where do I even start?
So I reached out to my best friend, founder and chief designer at The Mug Creative Agency, Nicole Lytwyn. We spoke about what might be lacking in our community and how to bridge it together in times of Covid. A place where there was a simple step that could show me what’s available to me in real time in my community. A place where many disciplines who do not normally cross fields might come together to be a balance in many individuals lives. Maybe right now we need a community, a village that will help carry us through these challenging times.
And so here it is, St. Pete Thriving.
